Take the time to slow down...

I was driving down the road and my foot on the gas pedal was a little too heavy than it should had been. I was surrounded with darkness as I drove around the curvy road that was kissed by the rain not long before. Suddenly, I realized almost too late that I had misjudged the up coming curve. I pressed down on the break pedal, and clutched the steering wheel as I guided my Chevy Impala through the curve, barely missing the bank. As I pulled myself together from the near scare, I asked myself, "What is your hurry? You are not going to get to your destination much sooner so why are you in such a hurry?"

Often times we rush through our day without even realizing why we do it. It can be easy to become anxious and hurried and miss the little things, miss enjoying each moment that we are given. It is easy to think, "Oh I have tomorrow!" and forget that tomorrow is not promised us. Yesterday is in the past, tomorrow is in the future, but today is the present. It is a present from God to us each new day of life.
So, take some time to slow down. Enjoy the simple things in life. Don't hurry through your day because it just might be your last day. Cherish every moment and bask in the goodness and holiness of God and the reality of Salvation through Jesus Christ.
How will you choose to spend your 86,400 seconds given to you today as a present from God?
"You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
Psalms 16:11
