Many years ago, as a little girl, I sat at my desk gazing out the window with such a faraway look in my eye as I rested my chin on my right hand. I can see it in my mind's eye as if it was merely yesterday...I dreamed of this place called "Africa," a place I hardly knew about; nevertheless, I knew in my heart that I must go one day. I dreamed of becoming a nurse and caring for the people in the villages with medical attention, compassion, and sharing Jesus' love. Time seemed to pause every time I would dream of traveling to this faraway place...

The years rolled by and it seemed that I should give up hope on what seemed to be an impossible dream, yet I knew, that somehow, someway, I would go someday. Furthermore, I knew that the dream to travel to the "heart of Africa," as I often referred to
it as, was still a passion that resided deep within my heart. I did not know how or when, just that I would go! I did become a nurse like I had dreamed about many years ago as a little girl while sitting at my desk, dreaming of this land that held my heart in such wonder. With that being said, on November 11th, 2020, I will begin traveling to Bundibugyo, a town in Western Uganda where my dream will become reality. Along with others, I will be providing medical care to the primitive villagers residing there. I am excited and nervous as I anticipate all the experiences I will encounter in my adventures in Uganda and as the internet is feasible, I plan to share experiences I encounter. God has truly been gracious in watering the dream of serving in Africa as a nurse, providing me with the strength to become a nurse, and paving the way for me to experience the reality of it all!
Here is to dreams coming true and great adventures in Uganda! Stay tuned!
